Packing for traveling is part of the exciting process. I imagine all kinds of adventures that maybe waiting for me while I pack. I usually end up with suitcase full of things, and I start realizing all my imagination is unrealistic, and pull unnecessary things out from the suitcase.
Anyways, below are lists of things that I usually pack:

1) One day adventure…
Messenger Bag
– Notebook or Tablet Computer
– Pens
– Phone charger
– Portable battery for phones
– Colon

Pocket
– Wallet
– Phone

*** Put everything in my front pocket.
Never use back pants pocket to prevent from being pick-pocketed.

2) Few days adventure…
Messenger Bag
– Notebook or Tablet Computer
– Pens
– Phone charger
– Portable battery for phones
– Earphone
– Colon

Pocket
– Wallet
– Phone

Suitcase or Duffel Bag
– Underwear and socks in a smaller bag
– Shirts and pants in a smaller bag
– Pijama
– Slippers
– Computer and phone charger
– Tooth brush & paste, hair gel, and shaver
– Swimming pants

3) A week of adventure…

On top of stuff for a few days trip,
I usually put
– additional cash, and
– a light jacket, sweater, or sweat shirt
in suitcase, just in case…

4) A month or longer…

The contents in the suitcase would be about the same as a few days trip. The only thing is that I may take a few more sets of clothes, extra pair of shoes, plus a little bag of detergent…

5) Road Trip…

In my suitecase and my messenger bag, I have the same things as above.
I would take
– an extra phone charger,
– pillow, and
– light blanket.

 

6) Air Travel…

– Passport or photo ID in my jacket pocket or
in my messenger bag.
Everything else would be the same as above…

 

7) Overseas Travel…

On top of above, I usually take
– medicine (flu / stomach) and band-aid
– passport
– credit card, which has international cash withdrawal capability
– portable wifi (if available)
